Marvellous Mural at Chagford Primary
There is a brand new mural brightening up the school hall at Chagford Primary.
Painted by artist Anna Higgie, the mural picks up colours from the moorland environment and brings them into the school. The mural also features the three hares that are found in ceiling bosses in moorland churches and which give their name to the Three Hares schools - Chagford, North Tawton and South Tawton.
The mural was paid for by the schools' art fund which was created from the successful auction of promises held prior to the pandemic.
The mural is a great way to show how we want to have colour, art and life at the heart of everything we do.

It's Not OK - Campaign Launch
10th January 2021
January 2022 sees the launch of the DMAT campaign to highlight and challenge the risks that members of our communities face from peer-on-peer sexual violence and sexual harassment (SVSH). The Trust now has a policy that acknowledges two things:
Trust safeguarding leaders have worked on a series of launch activities and pledges from every school to promote the “It’s not OK” message. There will be a week of focused activities from 10-14 January 2022 inclusive and the Trust will also engage with the national campaign from 07-13 February 2022.
Home | It's Not Okay (itsnotokay.co.uk) It's Not OK: online teaching resources | NSPCC Learning. Although the national campaign is aimed at children and young people aged 11+, here in DMAT we are asking every school , across all phases, to ensure that information and signposting is available on their websites to support the embedding of this critical message.
NSPCC Learning has reviewed and updated its information and resources to help professionals working with children and young people who have displayed problematic or harmful sexual behaviour, including peer-on-peer sexual abuse. Topics covered include: how to recognise what sexual behaviours are harmful, how to manage incidents of problematic or harmful sexual behaviour and support children involved, and how to ensure safeguarding policies and procedures include information about problematic and harmful sexual behaviour.

- It happens here;
- We have a zero tolerance approach to any such attitudes and behaviours. It’s not ok within DMAT.

Our partnership with the Voices Foundation
15th December 2021
Press release: Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust partners with charity to help students find their voice!
The Trust has embarked on an exciting and ambitious partnership with the Voices Foundation, working with all 14 primary schools within the Trust to develop and embed a progressive music curriculum for their pupils, staff and school communities. Artist Practitioners from the Voices Foundation will work with every single classroom teacher across all 14 DMAT schools to give them the skills, knowledge and confidence to deliver a high-quality music education through singing. |
The programme will run across the academic year and will culminate in a Singing Celebration at the end of the summer term to showcase everything that the teachers and pupils have learnt. The hope is that this partnership will embed music and singing into school life through the curriculum and engages teachers and children by focusing on sustainable and integrated music education for all! |
Voices Foundation is a national music charity working to help schools, academies and other partners from across the UK to establish effective music education since 1993. Everyone has a voice, and the belief is that singing is a powerful way for children to become proficient musicians, excel across the curriculum and develop self-esteem.
Veronica Lloyd Richards, Associate Executive Director of Schools for Dartmoor Multi-Academy Trust said:
“We are truly excited to begin work with the Voices Foundation and support the positive impact it will have across all our Primary schools. Our Trust is bursting with creativity and talent, and we believe that every student should have the chance to express themselves through singing and experience the joy of making music together”.
